Mr. Tostrud was heavily involved in two wage and hour class actions in California and Minnesota that dealt with the same issue: employees who had been improperly classified as exempt from federal and state overtime requirements. Both the Caribou case and the CBTL case dealt with store managers who were not paid overtime when they should have been. These store managers were really just “glorified baristas” who should have been paid overtime.
Mr. Tostrud was instrumental in the settlement of both of these cases that settled for millions of dollars.
