Tostrud Law Group is investigating both banks and credit unions that improperly reorder checks and debit transactions to maximize their profit from bank overdraft fees. At the end of the day, these institutions will clear transactions from largest amount to smallest amount, rather then in the chronological order in which they actually occurred. This process often results in multiple transactions “bouncing” and the account incurring a charge for each transaction, check or debit, that does not clear, thus maximizing the fees that the bank charges for inadequate funds.
If you believe that this process is occurring at your bank or credit union, contact TLG and we will investigate on your behalf.
